WWE Superstar Titus O’Neil Teams Up With The Florida Aquarium to Raise Funds for Australia Bushfire Rescue Efforts

Aquarium ExteriorThaddeus Bullard, aka WWE Superstar Titus O’Neil, is partnering with The Florida Aquarium on a worldwide scale in order to save wildlife affected by the bushfires in Australia.

The Florida Aquarium President and CEO Roger Germann and Titus are coming together to raise critical funds this Saturday, January 11th. Net proceeds from every general ticket sold – as well any donation designated through the Aquarium’s online donation site (www.flaquarium.org) on January 11 – will be donated to Australia Zoo’s Wildlife Hospital and rescue efforts.

Titus, through his Bullard Family Foundation, is matching all funds raised by the Aquarium up to $25,000. Australia Zoo was started by Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin and his wife, Terri. Terri Irwin and her two children have continued conservation and education efforts after Steve Irwin’s death.

Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital, which has treated more than 90,000 patients since 2004, will use the funds to support its long-term commitment to saving wildlife and wild places and help with current relief efforts, such as building new wards for native patients impacted by the wildfires.

“Terri, Bindi, and Robert are like family to me,” said Titus, who served as a co-host of the Steve Irwin Gala Dinner in Los Angeles last year. “During this tragic time, they are using every resource available to do everything they can to save animals injured from the bushfires. After talking with my good friends at The Florida Aquarium, who have an equal passion for saving wildlife, I knew Roger and I needed to tag-team and support Terri and the entire rescue team at Australia Zoo.”

“As a conservation-based Aquarium fiercely dedicated to saving wildlife in our backyard and around the world, we couldn’t sit idly by and watch millions of animals, some on the brink of extinction, perish due to the devastation from the bushfires,” Germann said. “The impact to wildlife is going to be felt for generations. We are honored to team up with Titus to support our friends at Australia Zoo, the Irwin family, and their dedicated rescue experts and volunteers. We are a not-for-profit ourselves, but donating these funds to save wildlife supports our mission.”

“With extreme drought, loss of habitat, human impact, and wildfires, the work that the Wildlife Hospital’s dedicated team is providing has never been more critical,” added Germann.

“We are absolutely overwhelmed with the brushfire situation here,” said Terri Irwin. “We can’t thank our dear family friend, WWE Superstar Titus O’Neil, and his hometown aquarium, The Florida Aquarium, for teaming up to raise critical funds that will help our Wildlife Hospital rescue team save more wildlife affected by the bushfires across Australia. The conservation-minded Florida Aquarium is no stranger to saving wildlife in America and Titus is one of the most caring people on earth. Both are true Wildlife Warriors.”

About The Florida Aquarium

The Florida Aquarium actively participates in and promotes stewardship of the natural environment as part of our mission of conservation. As a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, The Florida Aquarium provides an opportunity to see over 8,000 aquatic and terrestrial animals, explore complex ecosystems, look for wild dolphins in Tampa Bay, play at the Splash Pad and more! More than a must-see attraction, The Florida Aquarium is working to protect and restore our blue planet on many conservation fronts, including research and rescue efforts that help restore Florida’s sea turtle and coral populations and to ensure that sharks continue to swim our seas. In August of 2019, The Florida Aquarium, in partnership with Project Coral, became the first to successfully spawn critically endangered pillar coral in a laboratory.
