Programs that Come to You

The Florida Aquarium is proud to offer outreach programs for schools in our community. A visit from an Aquarium instructor, and often an animal ambassador, provide unique opportunities for learning in a familiar classroom setting. Sessions are 30 – 60 minutes in length and are available in terrestrial or marine themes.

Water Wheels

A favorite among teachers, Water Wheels provides students with hands-on learning in animal and environmental sciences.

Program Details:

  • Available year-round within 75 miles of The Florida Aquarium.
  • $195 for first session and $175 for each additional session, plus mileage. 3 sessions max. per day except as noted (same day, same site, same program).
  • Session registration must be made at least three(3) weeks in advance.
  • A $100 non-refundable deposit is due within three (3) days of reservation.
  • Full payment is due at least two weeks prior to your scheduled session.

Animals rely on different senses for survival- some have excellent sight, others have a keen sense of smell, and yet others rely on their sense of touch. Meet a LIVE animal ambassador to make sense of senses!

Animals have some of the wildest adaptations. Students will meet LIVE animal ambassadors to learn about the many characteristics that make them so special.

Meet a variety of The Florida Aquarium’s animal ambassadors in this informal education program. Ideal for large groups or groups with a wide age range.

Our one ocean comprises a huge portion of the Earth’s surface; living within it are some incredible animals. Marine Megafauna focuses on some of the larger animals swimming in our seas. This game show-like program is loaded with biofacts and interactives that make it a great option for large groups with a wide age range.

Strange sounds and murky bottoms. What secrets could the swamp be keeping? Students will go on a virtual journey through Florida’s treasured wetlands led by an expert instructor and meet a LIVE species ambassador native to the swamp.

Learning to live harmoniously with alligators is key to the safety of human and reptile alike. During the Gator Safety program, students will meet a LIVE alligator and learn how we can coexist with these amazing and important reptiles.

The Great Animal Challenge is designed to test students’ knowledge of the amazing animals that roam the Earth. In this engaging and interactive program, students will have fun learning about amazing adaptations, bizarre behaviors and so much more!
