Start Your Career with a Splash

As a conservation-based attraction, The Florida Aquarium is proud to offer a wide variety of internships designed to provide college students and recent college graduates with an exclusive and hands-on opportunity to gain experience within the nonprofit aquarium/attraction industry and in the field of environmental conservation.

Our unique program combines detailed training with applied work experience, resulting in a comprehensive and dynamic work-study experience, all while under the guidance and coaching of a qualified aquarium professional. Each internship reflects our commitment to saving marine wildlife.

Themed Experiences Graphic Design      Veterinary Externship

These specialized internships are designed to provide valuable hands-on experience at an Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) accredited, world-class facility. 

Internship Dates and Deadlines

  • Applications for the fall term will be accepted June 1-June 15
  • Applicants will be notified of their selection status by July 15
  • Interns work a minimum of 16 hours per week
  • At least one project must be completed during the internship period

  • Applications for the spring term will be accepted November 6 – December 1
  • Applicants will be notified of their selection status by December 15
  • Interns work a minimum of 16 hours per week
  • At least one project must be completed during the internship period

  • Applications for the summer term will be accepted February 15-28
  • Applicants will be notified of their selection status by April 1
  • Interns work a minimum of 16 hours per week
  • At least one project must be completed during the internship period

  • Include all Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Center internships and Veterinary internship
  • Position duration does not follow traditional college terms. Specialized internship terms are as follows:
    • Fall/Winter: October 7, 2024 – January 26, 2025
    • Winter/Spring: January 13, 2025 – May 4, 2025
    • Summer: April 21, 2025 – August 3, 2025

Internship Details

  • Applications are only accepted during the application period for each term

  • Applicants must meet the required dates and minimum time requirements of the internship

  • Internship opportunities may vary in terms of compensation, with some offering payment and others not please see application link for compensation offering. Applicants should be prepared to arrange and cover any lodging or transportation needs independently.
