John Mastrobuono, VMD
Staff Veterinarian
Dr. John Mastrobuono is an staff veterinarian at The Florida Aquarium, providing preventative, diagnostic and medical care for the Aquarium’s living collection and for the rescued animals at its Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Center. He is passionate about providing compassionate care to all species to enhance their lives. During his education, he gained experience in medicine and surgery for a wide variety of species as well as reproductive management of domestic dogs and cats. He also has experience training staff and clients on exotic animal medicine and care.
Prior to joining the Aquarium in 2021, John was an associate veterinarian at a clinic in Anchorage, Alaska. He provided primary and emergency care for companion animals and exotic species and performed surgical procedures on a variety of exotic species.
John graduated from Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pa., with a bachelor’s degree in biology. He received his Veterinariae Medicinae Doctoris (VMD) from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine and then stayed at Penn to complete an internship in exotic companion animal medicine and surgery.
