Blue Angelfish

Holacanthus bermudensis

Bold, Beautiful, and Loyal

Blue fish with green hues and yellow highlights, Bermuda blue angelfish live in and around coral reefs where they graze on coral and sponges. These brightly colored blue angels produce a loud thumping noise to startle potential predators or attract other blue angelfish.

Adult blue angels are thought to be monogamous, usually found traveling in the same pairs throughout their lifespan. The females of this species are larger than males and breed year-round, producing up to 75 thousand eggs each day and as many as ten million during each spawning cycle.
