Teacher At Sea Workshop

Educators are invited to join The Florida Aquarium for a two-day teacher workshop on how field research is conducted at sea. The workshop kicks off at The Florida Aquarium with hands-on, interactive activities and background information that can be incorporated into classrooms. On day two, teachers will embark on a 12-hour at-sea experience aboard the Weatherbird II research vessel to conduct a biodiversity survey in the eastern Gulf using equipment and tools of the trade.
Day One:
When: Tuesday, June 9, 2026, 8 AM to noon
Where: The Florida Aquarium
Day Two:
When: Wednesday, June 10, 2026 9:30 AM – 11 PM
Where: aboard the Weatherbird II Research Vessel, docked in St. Petersburg, FL
Teachers will receive classroom lesson plans and a $150 stipend for completion of the entire two-day workshop experience.
