Tampa, FL (June 30, 2022): The Florida Aquarium has been awarded a $210,000 grant as part of Lowe’s Hometowns, an initiative that is helping to restore and revitalize spaces that serve as the hubs and heartbeats of communities. This year is the first of Lowe’s five-year, $100 million commitment from Lowe’s to the communities it serves, with this year’s projects spanning 40 states and Washington, D.C.

“We are honored to be recognized by Lowe’s for our own commitment to community and grateful for the support in updating the facility,” said Kara Wagner, Chief Development Officer of The Florida Aquarium. “It is the powerful experiences that children and families have while visiting The Florida Aquarium that not only inspire environmental action but also spark learning and ultimately strengthen our community.”

The Lowe’s Hometowns grant will provide funding for The Florida Aquarium to renovate its first floor lobby restrooms. The new restrooms will improve energy and water efficiency, supporting The Florida Aquarium’s commitment to sustainable business practices, and will serve millions of visitors in the years to come. The Lowe’s Hometowns projects are set to be completed by the end of 2022.
