The Florida Aquarium is throwing its first-ever Día de los Muertos Day (Day of the Dead) celebration and Xochi, the Aquarium’s newest axolotl costume character, is the life of the fiesta. Discover traditions from her home in Mexico City while exploring hands-on activities, vibrant décor, and festive surprises all weekend long. Día de los Muertos is included with general admission.
Event highlights include:
- Photo opportunities with Xochi in her Día de los Muertos outfit
- Pet Ofrenda: Bring a photo to honor the memory of a beloved pet
- Performances by Grupo Folklórico Mahetzi and Día de los Muertos-themed music in the outdoor plaza
- Sugar skull-inspired décor and habitat enrichment
- Sugar skull mask-making craft
- Sugar skull face painting by Goofy Faces
- Tamale specials at Café Seventy One, including Short Rib Tamales and Apple & Fruit Compote Tamales
