Easter Fun for the Animals and Families This Weekend at The Florida Aquarium
Tampa, FL (April 18, 2025) – It’s not just the kids who are enjoying Easter fun this weekend—some of the animals at The Florida Aquarium are getting egg-stra holiday treats, too. The Aquarium’s Animal Care team prepared enrichment experiences, tailored to each animal’s diet, by filling plastic eggs for the Tamandua (tuh-man-dew-uh) and Asian Water Monitor.
- Cayenne, the Tamandua, got a tasty puree of insects and vitamins in one of his eggs and mashed avocado in another.
- Salvator, the Asian Water Monitor, relied on his keen senses to track down his meal—devouring a whole hard-boiled egg.
Biologists say this seasonal “egg hunt” is designed to promote natural behaviors like hunting, foraging and adapting to environmental changes, which support the animals’ physical and mental wellbeing.
