Volunteer & Conservation Management Internship

The Florida Aquarium Volunteer and Conservation Management Internship offers a well-rounded, educational experience working with our Volunteer Leadership and Human Resources teams. 


Interns will assist the Volunteer Program Manager with the goals and objectives of the volunteer program while promoting positivity and engagement of our volunteers by keeping volunteers inspired, informed, and making sure that they have the necessary tools and information needed to fully support the mission of the Aquarium.


Must be willing to work at least one weekend day a month, and occasional evenings.


Duties & Tasks

  • Assist with all aspects of the volunteer program including recruitment, placement, recognition, orientation, retention, and administration of volunteers.
  • Work with community environmental organizations to coordinate and facilitate on and off site conservation projects.
  • Assists with all aspects of Aquarium sponsored event volunteers including recruiting, placement, and coordination of volunteers the day of the event.
  • Aides in the planning of volunteer appreciation events and volunteer socials
  • Maintains accurate volunteer records
  • Perform other related duties as requested


Qualifications

 

Must be a college sophomore or higher or up to 6-months post graduate with a GPA of 2.5/4.0 or higher.

  • Must be able to work in both a group and individual environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to think and work independently within a professional setting
  • Highly organized; ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks

Spring and fall internships are 14 weeks in duration with a minimum of 16 hours per week requirement. Summer Internships are 10 weeks in duration with a minimum of 32 hours per week requirement. At least 1 project must be completed. All internships are unpaid.
