Occupational Safety and Health Internship

Internship Summary

Interns will have the opportunity to work directly with the Occupational Health and Safety Manager to ensure compliance with all applicable safety and environmental laws and regulations. 

Tasks

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: 

  • Ensuring compliance with all applicable health and safety related regulations
  • Identification and evaluation of hazardous conditions and practices to include on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices 
  • Conducting incident investigations for employee injuries 
  • Working with the Operations team to investigate guest incidents 
  • Analyzing reports to assess injury trends and develop mitigation strategies 
  • Assist with oversight of Aquarium first aid stations and supplies 
  • Assist in coordinating and administrating the Safety Suggestion Program 
  • Assist in administration of the Hazard Communication Program, to include: SDS inventory management, and working with departments to ensure compliance

Qualifications

Must be college sophomore or higher and up to 6 months’ post graduate with a GPA of 2.5/4.0. 

  • Familiarity with OSHA and/or EPA regulations 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 
  • Previous data input experience preferred 
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills
