Shoreline Cleanup

Protect & Restore our Blue Planet's Shorelines

February 17, 10 AM - 1 PM | Seddon Channel and Marjorie Park Shoreline Cleanup

The Florida Aquarium will be cleaning up and removing beads from the bay as part of after Gasparilla cleanup efforts with partners from Tikkun HaYum, Green Gasparilla, and Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful.

Join The Florida Aquarium team on Sunday, February 17 from 10 AM - 1 PM  for a shoreline cleanup at 97 Columbia Drive, Tampa, Florida to clean up trash and raise awareness of the importance of our clean shores for the health and wellness of marine animals and the natural environment. Our goal is to collect as much trash and debris as possible to contribute to healthier shorelines and oceans!

We will be collecting debris and trash along the beautiful waterfront area of Marjorie Park as well as supporting Tikkun HaYum divers and our Florida Aquarium certified scuba divers that will be removing debris and beads from Seddon Channel.

Come for the whole day, or come for an hour. Any time you contribute helps to protect and restore our blue planet!

Important Cleanup Tips

  • Wear closed-toe shoes, a hat and/or sunglasses.
  • Wear clothes you don't mind getting wet or dirty.
  • Bring / wear sunscreen (we recommend coral-safe brands).
  • The Florida Aquarium will provide gloves and other cleanup supplies.

Other Considerations

  • Water coolers will be provided. We recommend bringing your reusable water bottle to fill up and stay hydrated.
  • Use caution when onsite at the cleanup:
    • If something is too large to lift, get help or leave it and we will report to the proper authorities.
    • If you come across broken glass or syringes, please leave them alone and do not risk injury to yourself or others.
    • Please respect wildlife and land around the cleanup area including mangroves, animals, etc.
