Guest Engagement Facilitator

The Florida Aquarium's Education department is currently accepting applications for a part-time Guest Engagement Facilitator.
This position is responsible for the instruction of educational public programs focusing on Florida’s ecosystems in all areas of the aquarium including touch tanks, exhibit talks, gallery walks, animal encounters and activity carts and ensuring that all programming presented is engaging, innovative and effective, as determined by evaluation, and in direct support of the mission of
The Florida Aquarium.
Requirements:
Working towards a bachelor’s degree in Education, Biology or related discipline (Associates degree working towards Bachelor’s accepted also) or related work experience, teaching and/or public speaking experience preferred.

Maintenance Helper

The Florida Aquarium is currently accepting applications for a part-time Maintenance Helper.
This position is responsible for preparing The Florida Aquarium grounds, parking lot, front entrance area, immediate Wharf area and Explore-A-Shore area to include decks and balconies, before operating hours begin at 9:30am.
Duties include, but are not limited to, trash pickup, using a leaf blower, performing minor repairs and projects, pressure washing, weed pulling, equipment cleaning and other duties required by the Operations Manager to meet business needs.
Skills required: Ability to identify and fix minor equipment issues, ability to report items that need repair work done; ability to be a self-starter and identify daily, weekly, monthly and long range goals and work assignments.
Schedule is Tuesday-Saturday 7:00am-12:00pm/1:00pm with one fifteen minute break. Work schedule can vary to include weekends, holidays and events. Schedule will be set every Wednesday for the following week.
Pay rate: $10.50 an hour.
 

Part-Time Admission Associates

The Florida Aquarium in Tampa seeks a dynamic and customer service focused individual to participate in the daily operation of the admissions, ticketing and parking lot areas. Computer controlled ticketing and attraction experience preferred.  Must be able to work weekends and holidays.

Event Sales Manager

The Florida Aquarium is growing and seeks an enthusiastic, self-motivated member of our Sales Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for generating and pursuing qualified sales leads for all markets including corporate, convention, social, wedding and picnic. Sales contracts, sales activity reporting, budgets and revenue analysis required as part of weekly duties. College degree and minimum 3 years hospitality sales experience required. Prefer someone with corporate and convention business experience and networks. Working in a startup Sales Team and Bilingual is a plus.

Senior Biologist

The Florida Aquarium is currently accepting applications for an Animal Health/Quarantine Senior Biologist.
This position is responsible for assisting the Associate Curator of Quarantine in leading a diverse team of Biologists to achieve The Florida Aquarium's Mission to entertain, educate and inspire stewardship about our natural environment by exemplifying the aquarium's values of Respect, Trust and Excellence; supervising and directly working with staff that maintain and provide daily care to the aquarium's aquatic and terrestrial quarantine and medical holding systems as well as monitoring routine water quality parameters for both the exhibits and quarantine systems and performs essential job functions in accordance with guidelines set and approved by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and other safety regulatory agencies.
Requirements:
Minimum of three years husbandry experience with aquatic and terrestrial organisms in a public aquarium, zoo or related field; two years of experience in management of staff, volunteers, interns, programs, or projects; four year degree in Biological Science or equivalent experience; knowledge of the disposition, habits, food requirements and cleaning needs of a diverse animal collection consisting of marine and freshwater fish and invertebrates, reptiles, mammals, and birds; advanced knowledge and experience with a wide range of mechanical, electrical and chemical engineering aspects of maintaining biological systems; experience in the acquisition, collection and transport of live animals; Open Water SCUBA certification from a recognized training agency, with ability to obtain Rescue Diver certification within 3 months of hire; ability to obtain a Florida class D license within 6 months of hire; knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook); experience in the use of small boats preferred; operation of small boats is a plus; knowledge of animal record keeping systems (ZIMS/ISIS) preferred.

Directly works with, as well as supervises staff that work with and maintain the Aquarium’s freshwater and marine fish, invertebrates and other animals within our collection. Performs essential and secondary job functions in accordance with guidelines set and approved by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and other safety regulatory agencies.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 4 years experience in a facility working with aquatic and terrestrial organisms including but not limited to: live coral, jelly cultures and displays, sygnathid cultures and displays, large marine teleosts and elasmobranchs. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role of staff, volunteers, interns, programs or projects at a museum, zoo, aquarium or related facility. BS or higher degree in a biological science or related field with equivalent experience. SCUBA certification required with ability to advance to Open Water Scientific Diver/Rescue Diver level within 6 months of hire. Have a valid State of Florida Driver’s License or be able to obtain one upon job offer.
