Vice President of Biological Operations



The Florida Aquarium seeks an enthusiastic, self-motivated and mission focused person to fulfill our senior management position.  Reporting to the President/CEO, the Vice President of Biological Operations will be responsible for leading and directing the Biological Operations groups: Husbandry, Animal Health, Animal Programs, Dive Operations and Horticulture.  The Vice President will lead the advancement of our conservation and research efforts.  Responsibilities also include developing the biological operations strategic plan to align with organizational goals, exhibit development/expansion and establishing and developing partnerships with organizations that support and advance the Aquarium's mission and vision.

Minimum qualifications: Ten years ‘experience with five years at a senior management level;  four year degree in biology , masters or PHD preferred; demonstrated knowledge of and proven leadership in the critical components of a Biological Operations department  and strong leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.  Excellent communication, written and presentation skills.

Administrative Assistant



Our team is growing and we are seeking an administrative assistant in our education department.  Performs a variety of complex administrative and clerical functions in accordance with established procedures that have been pre-determined and pre-defined.  This includes typing reports, minute-taking, business correspondence, forms and other documents; filing, sorting and distributing mail; and answering telephones; departmental purchasing and budget tracking.

Requirements:  Prefer two years college and two years experience as an administrative assistant.

Facilities Maintenance:   

 

This position is full time with excellent benefits after the successful completion of a 90 day introductory period.  The successful candidate will perform facilities maintenance off-hours to include drywall, carpentry, plumbing, painting and general repairs as required.  2nd Shift working 4pm to midnight, 40 hours per week.  Prefer customer focused, self-motivated and self-directed person to be part of our facilities team.  Requires 2 years work experience in one or more trades.   $16.00 per hour starting salary. 

 

 

Divemaster:

Come join our dive team.  We are hiring for part time positions.  $9.50 per hour. 

This position works with our dive team creating memorable experiences for our dive guests.  You will be responsible for guest dive experience programs in a safety diver capacity; Supervise the in water safety of children;  Serves as a greeter for Shark Dive Experience to include greeting guests, presentation, and registration paperwork; Prepare guest dive experience equipment and materials; Perform routine and as needed equipment repairs and cleaning and securing equipment at the end of each shift; Maintain current dive certifications. 

Requirements: 

Dive Master or equivalent from a nationally recognized SCUBA training organization

Current certification in First Aid, CPR and Oxygen administration

Underwater liability insurance required

Good presentation and public speaking skills

Previous experience diving with sharks preferred

Previous experience working with children’s water safety programs a plus
