Thomas F. Stork


Thom Stork took the helm of The Florida Aquarium in April 2002 as its Executive Director/CEO.  He is responsible for increasing the Aquarium’s awareness throughout the state and within the local communities, preserving conservation efforts, reaching out to children’s education programs, creating special events and marketing programs, and significantly growing attendance and revenue levels.        


Stork spent 27 years as a marketing executive with Busch Entertainment Corporation.  He served his last two years with the company as Vice President of Marketing for SeaWorld of Orlando, overseeing a staff of 70 marketing professionals.  Prior to SeaWorld, Stork was Vice President of Marketing for Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, with a staff of 50.


In both positions with the Busch Corporation, Stork was responsible for all aspects of brand advertising, promotions, public relations, group and event sales and loyalty programs. Through his leadership, the family theme parks experienced numerous years of record attendance and profits.


Stork joined the Busch Gardens Tampa Bay marketing department in 1975 as the publicity manager, coordinating media relations for the park for more than three years.  In 1978, he moved up to the position of promotions manager where he directed special promotions aimed at increasing awareness.  He was promoted to the position of Vice President in 1982.


Stork served on the Florida Tourism Commission, by appointment of the Governor. He also served on the Executive Group of the Tampa Downtown Partnership.  While at Busch Gardens, he served on the Hillsborough County Tourist Development Council, and the boards of the Tampa Bay Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Museum of Science and Industry, the Outback Bowl and the Florida Attractions Association. Stork is a graduate of Leadership Tampa, was selected by the Tampa Bay Business Journal as one of Tampa’s “Up and Comers,” and was awarded marketer of the year by the American Marketing Association.


A 1971 graduate of the University of North Carolina, Stork holds a bachelor’s degree.  He was elected to “Who’s Who” in American Colleges and Universities.


Stork and his wife, Donna, have two children, Christopher and Ericka.
