Wetlands Gallery in Tampa

image description

Birds soar overhead, turtles bask in the sun and freshwater fish dart through the water as visitors enter The Florida Aquarium’s first presentation: the Wetlands Gallery. Sunlight streams through the Aquarium’s 1,100 panel glass dome and provides light and warmth to the live plants and animals on display in this ‘natural’ environment.

The Wetlands Exhibit dome’s architectural design mimics the outer spirals of a nautilus shell, a theme continued inside the Aquarium as guests follow a continuing spiral back to the first floor of the lobby and touch tank.

Inside the wetlands exhibit, guests view more than 30 species of free flying birds including roseate spoonbills, blue herons and white ibis. The birds glide among the rafters and nest up in the trees that stretch towards the glass dome. Catch one of the daily Animal Encounter shows at The Wetlands Stage or wander upstairs to Aquariumania! and check out the home of an Aquariumaniac (a person crazy about fish tanks).
