Florida Teen SciCafe

It’s a fun, free way for teens to explore the latest ideas in science and technology.  The Pier Aquarium, The Florida Aquarium and Mote Marine Lab and Aquarium have partnered to provide our local teens with marine science cafes. The program consists of a science presentation, stimulating conversation and a related activity all in an informal and relaxed setting.  Free food is served and door prizes are given away!

 

The program is run by teens for teens.  Youth leadership teams have been established in Pinellas, Hillsborough and Sarasota counties.  The youth leaders run all aspects of the café meeting with adult support.  Teens have the opportunity to advise on presentation topics and assist with promoting the program in their respective community.  Any high school teen that wishes to, can join their communities youth leadership team. 

 

Science cafes can open teens to careers in science, technology, and engineering by giving them insight into the nature of science and the work of scientists.
