Explore A Shore, The Florida Aquarium's 2-acre outdoor water adventure zone lets the kids cool off while parents relax under the shade of the Tampa Tribune Cantina bar and grill. Watery waves, slippery slides, gushing geysers and an assortment of animal models are just a few of the attractions for the kids. Toddlers will enjoy sand castles, litttle slides and giant sea creature figures as they play in Shipwreck Shore. While the kids enjoy themselves, you can enjoy the comfort of the Cantina with easy viewing of the play area and table service.

Special thanks to our current group of donors for this project - Carol & Barney Barnett, Duckwall Foundation, The Hillsborough County Board of Commissioners, Marj McEntyre, The McNichols Company & The McNichols Family, Lance Ringhaver and Triad Foundation.
The Caribbean themed family friendly outdoor exhibit makes the perfect stop during an Aquarium visit.
Kids can climb on aquatic animal models, climb aboard a two story pirate ship, slide down a waterslide, play in water jet sprays and watch live shows while socializing with family and friends. There are a variety of interactive areas with water elements to create an aquatic discovery zone for children.
Fun Stuff to do in Explore A Shore:
Join the crew aboard the two story, 24-foot Pirate Ship and fire water cannons at your friends below. Climb across the cargo net to the ship's main deck and look through the telescope for a manatee, dolphin, shark and a shipwreck. Take the helm and follow the map to the buried treasure.
Climb up the 10-foot eel reef rock structure. Discover coral caves while playing on ladders, cargo nets and slide through tunnels while misters spray around a giant eel's head.
Crawl through an eight foot high Surf's Up Wave Tunnel. Slide down the 4-foot waterslide or ride the dolphin or surfboard.
Kids can play in water jet sprays to cool off in the hot Florida sun.
Shipwreck Shore: Just for Toddlers
Count the teeth in the alligator's mouth at Shipwreck Shore for toddlers. Sit in a sea horse daddy's lap and walk on the moray balance beam. Shipwreck Shore gives toddlers their own place to climb on animal figures and pirate ship replica.
**Please note that certain water elements may be closed due to inclement weather conditions or annual maintenance.
