Safety & Security Officer

The Florida Aquarium is currently accepting applications for Part-Time Security Officer positions for the second shift (4pm-12am)

Job duties include but not limited to: Ensuring the safety of the guests and personnel; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points; permitting entry; assisting with the School Group Entrance and ensuring quality customer service delivery.
Security license not required. The Florida Aquarium is monitored by security 24 hours a day.  
Must be available weekends and holidays. Pay rate is $8.75 an hour.

Senior Biologist 

The Florida Aquarium is currently accepting applications for a Senior Biologist of Fish and Invertebrates.
This position will assist the Fish and Invertebrate Associate Curator and Biological Operations Managers in leading a diverse team of Biologists and Senior Biologists to achieve The Florida Aquarium’s mission to entertain, educate and inspire stewardship about our natural environment by exemplifying the Aquarium’s values of Respect, Trust and Excellence.  Directly works with, as well as supervises, staff that work with and maintain the Aquarium’s freshwater and marine fish, invertebrates and other animals within our collection. Performs essential and secondary job functions in accordance with guidelines set and approved by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and other safety regulatory agencies.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 4 years experience in a facility working with aquatic and terrestrial organisms including but not limited to: live coral, jelly cultures and displays, sygnathid cultures and displays, large marine teleosts and elasmobranchs. Minimum of 2 years experience in a supervisory role of staff, volunteers, interns, programs or projects at a museum, zoo, aquarium or related facility. BS or higher degree in a biological science, or related filed with equivalent experience. SCUBA certification required with ability to advance to Open Water Scientific Diver/Rescue Diver level within 6 months of hire. Have a valid State of Florida Driver’s License or be able to obtain one upon job offer.

Environmental Services Floor Technician

The Florida Aquarium is currently accepting applications for a Part-Time Environmental Services Floor Technician.
Must demonstrate ability to use floor cleaning machines; will be responsible for maintaining carpet, tile and floors; will be responsible for keeping all areas of the aquarium clean, to include restrooms, lobby, guest areas, offices, parking lot and other assigned areas.
Must be available weekends and holidays. Pay rate is $8.50 an hour.

Operations Opener

The Florida Aquarium is currently accepting applications for a Part-Time Operations Opener.  This position is responsible for preparing The Florida Aquarium grounds – including front entrance area, parking lot, immediate Wharf area, Explore A Shore play area, and various decks and balconies for opening to the public at 9:30am. The position is vital to the guest experience and the right individual will take pride in producing the best first impression possible for one of Tampa’s and Florida’s popular attractions. Primary shift will be Tuesday – Saturday, 7:00am – 1:00pm; however, applicants must be flexible with scheduling. Must be comfortable using light equipment such as leaf blower, pressure washer, and tools for minor repairs and projects. This position reports directly to the Operations Manager.
Pay rate is $9.00 an hour.

Digital Media Specialist


The Florida Aquarium is growing and seeking a Digital Media Specialist.  The Digital Media Specialist will help develop and execute the Florida Aquarium’s social media strategy, with the goal of developing brand awareness/reputation, generating inbound conversations and encouraging relationships with our online community.  The Digital Media Specialist  is also responsible for performing social media engagement activities, planning content, posting and tracking posts’ across various social media platforms focusing on customer experience, mission, fundraising and revenue opportunities.  Bachelors along with two years experience in similar position.
