Birthday Party Host

The Florida Aquarium is seeking a fun, responsible and dynamic part-time Birthday Party Host to deliver engaging birthday parties, both indoors and outdoors, for kids ages 1 and up!  The host needs to ensure that all programs presented are customer service focused and meet or exceed the needs/expectations of the guests and in direct support of the purpose/vision/mission/values of The Florida Aquarium.  The host is also responsible for stocking and preparing materials and supplies for upcoming scheduled birthday parties. 
Pay rate is $8.50 an hour

Education Volunteer Coordinator

The Education Department seeks a motivated, passionate leader responsible for recruitment, training, mentoring, scheduling, and coordination of Education volunteers while expanding the program to meet the growing needs of visitor engagement. The Position is also responsible for instruction of programs focusing on Florida’s ecosystems in the Aquarium, including exhibits, galleries, interpretive stations, microphone presentations, tours, and touch tanks. He/she must maintain current knowledge of programming for various audiences as well as animal handling protocols while ensuring guest interactions are engaging, innovative, and effective. Candidates must be available to work evenings and weekends as needed, with the standard schedule as Tuesday through Saturday. Candidates should have a degree in education, human resources or related discipline (or have significant relevant work experience), have experience working with children and volunteers, and display exemplary team work and customer service skills. Public speaking skills are required.

Part-Time Exhibit Educator

Our education department is looking for highly motivated, engaging, and enthusiastic people to join our team. This position is responsible for the instruction of educational public programs at three live animal touch pools and various activity stations.  It will also focus on educating about Florida’s ecosystems in other areas of the aquarium.  Ensures all programming presented is engaging, innovative and effective, as determined by evaluation, and in direct support of the mission of The Florida Aquarium. Passion for children, animals, the environment, and teaching is a must. Candidates must be available to work  on weekends, holidays and occasional evening shifts. Candidates should be pursuing a degree in education, environmental studies or related discipline, have experience working with children and volunteers, display exemplary team work and customer service skills.  Public speaking skills are required.

Graphic Designer I 

The Florida Aquarium seeks a dynamic and self-motivated team player for our Exhibit Design department.  This position is responsible for creating graphic solutions for a variety of products and activities, such as interpretive panels, posters, banners, brochures and exhibits that are part of an engaging visitor experience. The position involves teamwork to develop preliminary design concepts for all 3-D and 2-D elements. The individual will also work independently and be responsible for all aspects and details of assigned projects. 
Education Requirements and Technical Skills: Minimum two years’ experience as a graphic designer practicing the principles and procedures of design and production of large scale graphics; Bachelor degree in design or related field OR at least 2 years work experience in art, graphic production or desktop publishing; Proficiency in a Mac environment: Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator programs.  Also, strong graphic design skills in typography and composition.

Part-Time Assistant Biologist

The Florida Aquarium is currently accepting applications for a part-time Assistant Biologist for the Fish and Invertebrates Team.
Position Summary: Responsible for working with a team of biologists within the Husbandry department in the daily care of a living collection of aquatic and terrestrial plants and animals; assisting Biologists in all husbandry duties to include animal care, food preparation and maintenance of the exhibits, animal holding, life support systems and general work areas.  
Education Requirements and Technical Skills: Minimum high school graduate or GED certified;  SCUBA certification required with ability to advance to Rescue Diver level within 3 months of hire; college coursework in Marine Biology or related sciences; experience in Husbandry of mammals, birds, reptiles, fish, invertebrates or plants preferred; knowledge of Microsoft Office software is a plus; valid Florida driver’s license or ability to get one within 3 months of hire

Part-Time Dive Master

Come join our Dive Master Team! This position works with our dive team creating memorable experiences for our dive guests.  You will be responsible for guest dive experience programs in a safety diver capacity; supervising the in water safety of children; serving as a greeter for Shark Dive Experience to include greeting guests, giving presentations, and gathering registration paperwork; preparing guest dive experience equipment and materials; performing routine and as needed equipment repairs and cleaning and securing equipment at the end of each shift and maintaining your current dive certifications.  
Requirements:  
Dive Master or equivalent from a nationally recognized SCUBA training organization – Instructor Certification a plus
Previous experience operating or working on boats preferred
Current certification in First Aid, CPR and Oxygen administration
Underwater liability insurance required
Good presentation and public speaking skills
Previous experience diving with sharks preferred
Previous experience working with children’s water safety programs a plus

Reimbursement of PADI or NAUI membership dues up to the dive master level

Floor Technician

The Florida Aquarium is currently accepting applications for a customer service focused, full time Floor Technician on the night shift.
Applicant must demonstrate ability to use floor cleaning machine.
This position is responsible for maintaining the appearance of all of the aquarium's hard and soft floor surfaces (carpet, tile, etc) and will assist in the cleaning of all areas of the aquarium as assigned.
Applicant must be flexible and able to work weekends and holidays. This position is full-time, non-exempt and benefits are offered after successful completion of the 90 day probationary period. Pay rate is $8.75 an hour.

Bay Spirit II Boat Crew Member

The Florida Aquarium is currently accepting applications for a part-time Bay Spirit II Boat Crew Member.
This position assists in operations of the Eco-Tour around the bay and performs routine maintenance on the vessel while in port.  Completes all morning, housekeeping duties, assists in the operation of the vessel while at sea and completes other duties as assigned by the Captain of the day.  All Bay Spirit II tours are conducted to ensure that all programming presented is engaging, innovative and effective as determined by evaluation, and in direct support of The Florida Aquarium's mission.
Requirements: High School Diploma (or appropriate technical/vocational training at an equivalent rate); one year's experience as a Crew member on a public excursion vessel; Dive Master certification; current First Aid  and CPR certifications and proficient with Microsoft Office software.
Schedule is primarily Saturday, Sunday and Monday; must be flexible and willing to work holidays and evenings if needed.
Pay rate is $9.00 an hour.
