Sales / Events Internship

This internship offers a well-rounded, educational experience working in a variety of functions in the Sales & Events department. Duties include assisting sales staff and event coordinators with administrative support, sales processes, and event planning, execution, set up, and breakdown. Special projects may be assigned as needs arise.
 

The Sales & Events Intern supports sales managers with in-market, group, and event sales goals. Duties will include:
 

  • Create and manage databases including event leads and group sales bookings and analyze data to support sales efforts
  • Do weekly hotel sales calls to talk about the aquarium and restock collateral
  • Represent the aquarium at outreach events
  • Shadow and assist with private events at the aquarium
  • Research local event venue competition and compile into presentation
  • Attend industry events with sales managers for organizations such as MPI, Visit Tampa Bay, and the Greater Tampa Bay Chamber
  • Attend weekly sales and catering meetings
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing team for updates to website, social media platforms, and collateral


Requirements:


  • Must be college sophomore or higher and up to 6 months post graduate with a GPA of 2.5/4.0.
  • Degree focused on business management/administration, marketing, hospitality management or event management experience in hospitality or related industry is a plus
  • Ability to drive automotive equipment and have a valid driver’s license


Summer Interns all start on the same day: May 30, 2017. Duration of the internship is 10 weeks with 1 project completed during that time. 32 hours per week required.
