The Florida Aquarium is accepting applications for internships in the public relations department. Interns will gain hands-on experience in marketing and public relations in a cultural attraction/environment conservation organization setting.
The responsibilities could include participating in writing projects for internal and external audiences, supporting social media efforts, film and photography support, assist with marketing projects, maintaining records, and responding to public inquiries by phone, mail, and electronically. Interns will also learn professional media relations and conduct including television, radio, newspaper, website, and social media.
Internship preferred proficiencies and skills
Ability to conduct self in a professional and customer-centric appearance and manner to guests of the Aquarium, media representatives and film crews and agencies.
Impeccable writing and editing skills.
Photography and video shooting and editing skills preferred
Great oral and written communication
Maintain a calm manner around animals.
• Must be a college sophomore or higher or up to 6 months post graduate with a GPA of 2.5/4.0 or higher.
• Must be able to work in both a group and individual environment.
• Have a general understanding of working with different types of animals.
• Willingness to do physical labor on a daily basis in sometimes hot/cramped spaces.
Summer interns will all start on May 30th.
Internship is 10 weeks in duration in which at least 1 project must be completed. A minimum of 32 hours per week is required.
