Instructional Design Internship


The Florida Aquarium is searching for an Instructional Design Intern for the spring 2017 term that will be responsible for updating and creating online learning programs that support the overall strategy of the organization in order to facilitate employees’ skills, performance, productivity and quality of work under the direction of the Manager of Instructional Technology.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Work closely with assigned mentor to update, design and develop eLearning content
  • Monitors online training programs, assesses results, and suggests enhancements as needed
  • Gain experience with creating engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and transfer, (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games)
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts and identifies target audience’s training needs
  • Applies tested instructional design theories, practice and methods process
  • Maintain project documentation and course folders

*All Florida Aquarium interns are required to present a project at the end of the internship.  

Qualifications
  • Very strong people skills
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated familiarity with Instructional Design and course development
  • Strong computer skills
  • Working knowledge of Learning Management Software and authoring tools (i.e Articulate Storyline)
  • Required proficiency in all Microsoft Suite software applications
  • Knowledge of Adult Learning theories, ADDIE and Instructional Design Principles
  • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Instructional Design, Minimum GPA: 2.75

Details of Internship
  • This internship is a temporary position anticipated to last approximately three months.  At a minimum, the intern should be able to commit to work 20+ hours per week between February 2017 and May 2017. (10-12 weeks)
  • This internship is unpaid and relocation assistance is not available.
  • All work will be performed at The Florida Aquarium located in Tampa, FL.
