Florida Aquarium Internships

         
 

The Florida Aquarium’s Internship program is designed to provide college students and recent college graduates with an exclusive and hands-on opportunity to work in the aquarium industry. Our unique program combines detailed training with applied work experience in the department of choice to result in a comprehensive and dynamic work-study experience; all while under the guidance and coaching of a qualified aquarium staff member. Only a small number of interns are accepted each semester to allow for a more personal experience and the internship program reflects our mission, “to entertain, educate and inspire stewardship of our natural environment.  

Internships are available in the fall, spring and summer semesters in several departments throughout our institution, allowing students to experience the unique character of the aquarium and enhance their personal and professional development.
 

What types of internships are available?
 

Internship opportunities currently offered include positions within our Husbandry and Education departments. Additional opportunities in our Sales/Events, Marketing and Human Resources departments may be added on a term by term basis. Take a look at the current internship opportunities available below. 

Instructional Design

Work closely with the Manager of Instructional Technology to gain experience with creating online learning programs.

Entertainment

If you have a passion for sharing a laugh, making someone’s day, or building experiences that can last a lifetime, this will be one of the most learning-intensive, hospitality-based internships you will find!

Development

If you are looking for experience working in Advancement at a non-for profit, this internship is for you!  We will develop your talents while helping the Aquarium advance its mission!

Marine Operations

Gain experience in the marine field interning on our 72 ft. catamaran and working closely with our very own Florida Aquarium Captains and crew! 

Education

Work closely with our Education staff to gain hands on experience in the field of informal education.

Husbandry

Water Quality testing, preparing animal diets and animal care alongside our biologists awaits you in one of our Husbandry internships.

Marketing

Gain experience in a professional aquarium setting with training and skill development under direct supervision of our Digital Media Specialist and Marketing team.

Sales/Events

Interested in a career planning events, weddings and corporate symposiums? Our Sales/Events internship might be the right one for you!
 

Who is eligible?
 

Internships at the Florida Aquarium are available to students either enrolled or recently graduated from a college or university. Internships are open to both undergraduate and graduate students. The Aquarium is currently not accepting applications from international students.
