Position Title:            Entertainer II
Service Group:          Education
Reports To:               Entertainment Supervisor
Exemption Status:    Non-Exempt

*Auditions and interviews have passed for this season and positions are filled, but we will keep your resume on file should the need for emergency casting arise or positions open before official auditions return in Spring. 

Position Summary
Show Host or Character (either in Costume or as Escort) appearances multiple times per day in assigned locations. Perform appearances for special events, media or promotional purposes.  Perform other strategic guest interactions and shows throughout the Aquarium. Participate in the development and presentation of new guest encounters.  Act as a brand ambassador for The Florida Aquarium.

Essential Position Functions

  • Performs as Show Host in assigned area up to five times per day
  • Performs Character appearances in assigned areas up to six times per day
  • Performs other strategic guest interactions in assigned areas according to show schedules
  • Performs daily physical and vocal warm-ups as needed to perform safely
  • Maintains show quality as approved by Supervisor(s)
  • Assists in the evaluation of ongoing guest encounters
  • Assists in the training of new staff and volunteers
  • Takes and implements show notes from Supervisor(s) to ensure top show quality
  • Maintains costume and make-up requirements based on assignment
  • Assists in light cleaning and maintentance of break and performance areas
  • Reports costume or show issues to supervisor(s) in a timely manner
  • Demonstrates courteous and professional behavior with all Florida Aquarium Team Members and guests
  • Develops and maintain a team spirit with fellow Team Members to ensure seamless guest service
  • Participates and Facilitates in the Development and Presentation of new and exciting guest encounters
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor(s)

Education and Experience Requisites

  • Theatrical Performance, Atmospheric Entertainment, Costume Character or Improvisational Exp.
  • A Bachelor’s degree, or 2+ years work experience, in Performing or Visual Arts, Education, or related fields.
  • Successful audition with The Florida Aquarium and any contracted parties

Technical Preferences

  • Bilingual/Spanish Language
  • Driver’s License
  • Minor Textile Maintenance
  • Software Operation – Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point)
